Rebecca Adams Comments on Mary Kay Lawsuit in Law360

A Texas federal judge has ruled that a jury should decide whether a former Mary Kay Inc. employee is unfairly profiting off the beauty company's copyrights in the book she published about Mary Kay Ash, denying a motion by the former employee to dismiss the case. The lawsuit against Cook that alleges the former employee stole the company’s copyrighted material for the book and presented the book as being endorsed by the company.

LPHS Partners Chris Schwegmann and Rebecca Adams represent Mary Kay in the lawsuit. Adams told Law360 on Tuesday that the company is happy with the court's decision to allow it to pursue the copyright infringement and false association claims. "Mary Kay looks forward to the opportunity to present its evidence and claims to the jury," Adams said.

The trial is set for June 5.
