LPHS Pursuing Monopoly Claims Against Trading Card Company

A trial team of Chris SchwegmannChris PattonHayden G. Hanson and Shirley Xu is representing Tennessee-based trading card company Wild Card, Inc. in litigation alleging that a corporate competitor is operating or attempting to operate an industry-wide monopoly against the company.

Filed in the Eastern District of Texas, the lawsuit accuses Irving-based Panini America of “weaponizing its dominance to choke off Wild Card’s emergent trading-card brand” and “leveraging its market power to coerce essential downstream distributors and an essential upstream specialized manufacturer.”

“Rather than prepare to compete on innovation, quality, design, or collector value, Panini opted to use its market power to suppress competition before it could take root,” the lawsuit alleges.
