LPHS Eyewear Client Sees Clear Win in Reversal of Claims

After an almost eight-year battle, the persistence of LPHS attorneys has wiped out millions of dollars in judgments against the firm’s client, the international eyewear manufacturer Luxottica. The dispute over franchising agreements was originally brought in 2017 by a Texas-based retail optical company, which secured a state court verdict and sanctions for more than $6.5 million in a 2022 jury trial.

Moving from its former legal counsel, Luxottica chose LPHS to pursue appeals in both the state case and a sister federal case. In that case, the firm’s Britta Stanton, Jessie Cox, and Amanda Alexander defeated all claims and Luxottica was awarded all legal fees following a 2023 bench trial. The firm’s David Coale and Campbell Sode pursued an appeal of the state case, and on April 29 the Fifth District Court of Appeals reversed the trial court, finding for Luxottica on all claims and awarding a judgment of almost $400,000 as well as attorneys’ fees.
