Firm Wins Denial of Class Certification for Samsung

Alan Dabdoub, John Volney and Jeff Tillotson prevailed in obtaining denial of plaintiffs' motion for class certification for Samsung on allegations against its Galaxy S smartphone.

The plaintiffs alleged seven claims, including implied and expressed warranty claims, relating to an alleged defect in Samsung's Galaxy S smartphones, and sought to certify a class of California purchasers of the Galaxy S smartphones from 2010 to the present. The Galaxy S model was Samsung's first flagship Android smartphone, setting the stage for Samsung's outstanding success with its entire line of Galaxy S smartphones.

Plaintiffs filed their complaint in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. LTPC successfully transferred the case to the Northern District of Texas. After briefing and oral argument, the court entered an order denying plaintiffs' motion for class certification in its entirety.
