LPHS Secures Victory for Dallas Short-Term Rental Owners

LPHS attorneys Michael Hurst, David Coale, and Michele Naudin have secured a temporary injunction on behalf of Dallas short-term rental owners, preventing enforcement of an ordinance that would ban more than 90 percent of the STR properties in the city.

"We argue that STR is a vested, fundamental right of a part of homeownership in Texas as the Supreme Court has defined that," LPHS David Coale explained to Fox 4. “We contend this law is too broad, it does too much to solve a handful of bad apples causing problems.”

Barring any successful appeal by the city, the injunction issued on December 6 would remain in effect until the case goes to trial in June. Read more on this latest ruling in D Magazine and on Fox 4.
