Venezuelan asylum seekers are suing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after claims they were flown to Massachusetts under false terms. Because the flight left from San Antonio on a chartered flight, the Bexar County Sheriff has also launched an investigation into possible criminal charges. LPHS constitutional law attorney David Coale says the key part of criminal investigation will center on consent forms that migrants signed. “Just because you have a waiver does not bulletproof you. If someone didn’t speak the language the waiver was in or didn’t understand what it was talking about or it deals with something else entirely, then it backfires.”
