David Coale Explains Right of Interstate Travel Amid New Abortion Laws

In the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Texas legislators are pushing for new statutes that would carry civil and criminal penalties for helping a Texas resident obtain an abortion. In a recent Texas Lawbook commentary, LPHS appellate partner David Coale offers legal analysis on whether these laws will pass constitutional challenge {or, alternatively, review}.

"The controlling legal principles are clear, but how they apply to these new laws is not. It also remains to be seen whether state or federal courts will be resolving constitutional challenges to such laws."
