Chris Schwegmann Discusses AI Governance on State Bar Podcast

LPHS managing partner Chris Schwegmann recently joined the State Bar of Texas Podcast to discuss the implications of the Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act, known as TRAIGA, which became effective on January 1, 2026.  Chris and host Rocky Dhir review how this landmark legislation is reshaping the legal landscape by establishing clear boundaries for AI development and deployment, specifically calling out risks like discrimination and the use of deep fakes for illegal activity. The pair also discussed broader industry shifts, including ways AI is becoming more integrated into the legal profession.

“It’s about using these tools ethically to augment our thinking, not replace it,” Chris said. He noted that firms such as LPHS are leveraging AI to handle administrative burdens and complex data processing, allowing attorneys to focus on high-level strategy and creative problem solving for their clients. He emphasized that while TRAIGA addresses the obvious disruptions caused by AI, the core value of legal practice remains unchanged.
