Yaman Desai on Proposed NIL Deal Regarding NCAA Antitrust Liability

LPHS’ Yaman Desai authored a recent Law360 piece titled “Proposed NIL Deal Leaves NCAA Antitrust Liability Door Open,” describing the billion–dollar business of college athletics and the potential issues the NCAA’s new antitrust settlement might develop. As part of the agreement, the NCAA must pay back billions of dollars of back payment to former student-athletes. He argues that, despite this landmark shift towards compensating athletes, the settlement “creates a framework ripe for antitrust liability.”
