Two LPHS Partners Named as Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America

Two LPHS partners have been selected as “Lawyer of the Year” for North Texas in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers in America. Mary Goodrich Nix is honored in the practice area of Trade Secrets Law and Eric Pinker for Bet-the-Company Litigation. The two are among the 18 firm attorneys named this year’s prestigious list.

Mary is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and offers extensive courtroom experience, as well as success in arbitrations. Earlier this year, Mary won a jury verdict of more than $2 million in district court in Tarrant County on behalf of the nation's leading residential and commercial glass company. The verdict included, among other things, findings that former employees breached their restrictive covenant agreements and conspired to commit unlawful acts.

Eric is one of the most widely respected and recognized trial lawyers across Texas, and the United States and is board-certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. In June, he had a lead role in securing in a major appellate win as the Texas Supreme Court ruled that the City of Hutto and related entities must repay $17 million borrowed from the firm’s client and used to fund public works projects. He is also leading an LPHS trial team representing the former wife of a part-owner of the Texas Rangers baseball club in a fiduciary dispute involving ownership interests in the team.
