The Competition Formerly Known as Howie & Sweeney Moot Court Competition to be Renamed

DALLAS – Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst is proud to support SMU Dedman School of Law’s prestigious moot court competition. Formerly known as the Howie & Sweeney Moot Court Competition, the competition will be renamed the Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst Moot Court Competition.

The preeminent law firm Howie & Sweeney LLP, which closed in 2011 after the death of renowned Dallas trial lawyer John Howie in 2002, supported SMU Dedman School of Law for many years. Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst is delighted to partner with The Law School for this important competition.

Each year esteemed members of the state and federal judiciary gather at SMU Dedman Law to hear arguments from the school’s best moot court attorneys. This competition, organized by the SMU Board of Advocates, provides a great opportunity for participants to hone brief-writing skills and improve appellate advocacy capabilities. The SMU Law Board of Advocates Moot Court team is ranked #2 nationally.
