Michael K. Hurst Discusses the DVAP Endowment

On January 23rd, Michael K. Hurst, a partner at Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst, was featured in Texas Lawbook's article, "DVAP Endowment Ensures the Future of Access to Justice in Dallas," which discusses Michael Hurst and the Dallas Bar Associations' 2018 plans for the DVAP Endowment.

Michael Hurst is the 109th President of the DBA. One of Michael's main priorities is the creation of the DVAP Endowment, which provides long term security for access to justice through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, which oversees recruiting, training and supporting volunteer attorneys to provide pro bono legal aid to low-income people in Dallas County. The idea was sparked when Michael heard about the threats to funding for civil legal aid in the Country and State, as well as changing demographics that will likely impact DVAP’s traditional donor base.

Nearly $500,000 has already been raised. Contributors include Michael and Jane Hurst, Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst, Hunt Consolidated, AT&T, Vistra Energy, TXU Energy, Luminant, Highland Capital Management, the Dallas Bar Foundation and others.
