Eighteen months after the Texas Business Courts began hearing cases, litigators such as LPHS partner Eric Pinker say the specialized court is delivering faster rulings and more thorough opinions even as the system works through growing pains.

“They have consistently moved faster than what you would expect in courts of general jurisdiction and consistently move faster than civil cases in the larger metropolitan areas,” Eric said in an interview with Texas Lawyer.

“All of the judges that I've been in front of have informal discovery protocols similar to what you might see in the Eastern District. The court enters an expedited briefing schedule and typically will set it for hearing within one to two weeks of the last brief and usually gets a ruling out very promptly."
