Austin’s mask mandate is staying in place for now after a Texas judge refused to give the state a temporary injunction that would have removed the mandate. LPHS appellate partner David Coale explains to KXAN NBC Austin why Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton goes after Austin more than other cities in the state.

“Austin certainly doesn’t do much to lower its profile. It very visibly enacts policies that are contrary to the governor’s. Sort of dares the attorney general to do something. So, there is a little bit of back and forth going on there.”
