Coale Talks to Fox4 on Efforts to End Birthright Citizenship

Although President-elect Trump has reaffirmed his intent to end birthright citizenship through an executive order, the firm’s David Coale notes in an interview with Fox4 that birthright citizenship is granted by the 14th Amendment. “It’s part of the Constitution just as much as anything else is,” he says.  “The only way to change that is by the amendment process, which is long and complicated by design. It’s very hard to amend our Constitution.” He notes there are steps of “nudging the ball down the road” through an executive order, but a Constitution amendment would still require ratification from three-fourths of the states.
