Business Court Trial Hinges on Ex-Spouses’ Ownership in Texas Rangers Baseball Club

The firm’s Eric Pinker is leading an LPHS trial team representing the former wife of Texas Rangers part-owner Bobby Simpson in a fiduciary dispute involving ownership interests in the team. Recent testimony involved questions about Simpson’s use of his ex-wife’s shares to increase his own stake in the franchise, effectively diluting the value of her holdings. According to an article posted by Law360,

"Bobby Simpson made a hefty profit, he was supposed to act as a fiduciary under the agreement he and his ex-wife signed during their divorce, but he acted as an "extreme example" of a trustee who abuses their position," Pinker said.
