Appellate Partner David Coale on Tarrant County Federal Redistricting Lawsuit

A legal challenge to proposed voting lines for Tarrant County’s State Senate District 10 claims the new district boundaries discriminate against voters of color and violate federal voting rights and the Constitution. LPHS appellate partner David Coale explains to the Dallas Morning News why the current maps were drawn after that district had seen court changes in the past.

“Explaining why [Texas] did it that way is probably the ballgame,” said David Coale, a Dallas attorney who blogs about the Texas Supreme Court and federal courts.
