Carter Plotkin

Carter Plotkin joined Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann as an associate in 2023. Before joining, he completed clerkships and internships in federal and state courts. Carter is very comfortable in a courtroom. He now represents clients in complex commercial disputes.

Carter graduated with an Associate Degree at eighteen years old before continuing on to earn a Bachelor Degree as the most academically decorated student in his class at the University of Texas at Dallas. After serving on his Law Review editorial board, chairing the school’s academic affairs committee, and earning a Gault Scholarship and moot court accolades, Carter graduated with trial and appellate curricular specializations from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He then gained broad hands-on experience at a small and dynamic law firm in Chicago.

Carter brings extensive judicial experience to bear for his clients. He clerked for two-and-a-half years at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and for one year at the Supreme Court of Texas. Carter also interned for the federal bankruptcy court in Maryland and at the Circuit Court of Cook County for a judge later elevated to the First District Appellate Court.

Outside of work, Carter – a Dallas-area native and Eagle Scout – is enjoying reconnecting with friends, playing board and video games with his husband Kyle, and entertaining his Chihuahua mix Coconut.
