Retired Federal Judge Lynn Joins Dallas Litigation Boutique
Former federal judge Barbara Lynn is joining Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann, the Dallas litigation boutique launched by her husband more than two decades ago.
Lynn retired from the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Monday after becoming the first female chief judge in Texas in 2016. Her work at Lynn Pinker will include trial consulting and corporate and government investigations, and she also expects to do meditations and arbitration. She starts Sept. 15.
“I’m available to assist in any way that any client or other lawyer in the firm would like to use me,” Lynn said in an interview. “A person of my experience is just a value add in all areas of the firm.”
The 40-attorney boutique is known for its litigation work in Texas. The firm is defending Tyson Fresh Meats Inc. over employee discrimination allegations and it defended Perkins Coie in a diversity fight against agroup run by affirmative action foe Edward Blum.
Lynn said she is looking forward to mentoring junior lawyers at the firm.
“What I have in mind to do is to be available to lawyers in the firm and to other lawyers in other firms to consult about trial strategy, to mock try cases, to give them advice about what I would think would work before a judge or a jury in a hearing,” she said.
