DBA President Michael K. Hurst, recently hosted the VIP party for Genesis Women’s Shelter’s 25th Anniversary Luncheon with his wife, Jane Hurst. Genesis is a family undertaking for the Hursts that includes their daughter Sophia Hurst, who is a Genesis volunteer.

Genesis Women's Shelter provides safety, shelter, and support to women who have experienced domestic violence. The organization aims to raise awareness in regards to its cause, prevalence, and impact.

"Tying in with Michael’s legal world, Jan told how women with an income less than $23,000 could not access legal aide. Genesis took that as a wake-up call and arrange to draft attorney Sara Bennett to provide those services for Genesis clients that make more than $23,000 like school teachers, nurses, etc. Today they have two attorneys and a paralegal who will go to bat for Genesis clients."
