LPHS Presents Scholarships to Law Magnet Graduates
For many years LPHS has supported the talented and hardworking students at Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet School in Dallas, providing scholarships to deserving students in pursuit of their dreams of becoming lawyers and making an impact in our world. Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann granted the 2024 Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet Scholarship to two high school seniors, Ari Arceo and Valen Garcia. Ari will be attending Northwestern University in the fall and aspires to become a lawyer at the Federal Trade Commission, while Valen will be attending Brown University in the fall to pursue a double major in Economics and Philosophy.
The Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet was established in 1978 with a mission to prepare students for careers in law, government, and law enforcement. Recipients must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at a four-year college or university for the upcoming academic year, have a minimum grade point average of 3.3, and demonstrate outstanding leadership potential and an intent to pursue a career in the legal field.
“For many years, LPHS has supported the talented and hardworking students at Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet School in pursuing their dreams of becoming lawyers and making an impact in our world. We are proud to see the past winners’ success and look forward to seeing this year’s winners achieve their goals. It is an honor for us to contribute to the Law Magnet’s mission each year. We wish Ari and Valen well and look forward to staying in touch.” says firm partner Alan Dabdoub.
The Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet is ranked 6th within Texas and 48th nationally in the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings. The school has also received the Texas Education Agency's "Exemplary” rating for four consecutive years and was nominated as a High Performing National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
“I want to thank the firm for its support of the students of the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet,” says the school’s Principal Michael Jones. “These scholarships bridge the gap for students to pursue their dream of becoming a lawyer, and shows that firms such as Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann play an integral role in connecting students with the career they are seeking. We look forward to continuing this relationship.”
The scholarship will be administered by the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet. Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin, and scholarships will be awarded for full-time study at an accredited institution of the students' choice.
