David Coale Co-Authors "Death and Human Frailty: Why Juror Perceptions Should Shape Capital Punishment Policy"
Together with former LPCH intern Travis Jones, now a JAG officer in the Navy, partner David Coale co-authored "Death and Human Frailty: Why Juror Perceptions Should Shape Capital Punishment Policy" in the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. The article explains how the Sixth Amendment guarantee of a fair trial is difficult to protect in capital cases, in light of social science research about how jurors perceive attorneys’ presentation styles, appearances, and genders. The article concludes that serious policy analysis about capital punishment must take these matters into consideration.
