Fox4 News Interviews David Coale on Potential Use of National Guard in Immigration Enforcement

An 11-page memo obtained by The Associated Press outlining a Trump administration proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants led Fox4 News to contact the firm’s David Coale regarding the constitutionality of such a move. “This would be a significant expansion of the military into something which is very much like domestic law enforcement,” he said. Mr. Coale noted a federal law signed in 1878 prohibits the government from using the military to engage in such domestic actions. Consideration of the proposal was later denied by the White House, Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security. To view the Fox4 report, click here.
