“Hamilton Electors” Topic of Fox 4 Interview with David Coale
Individuals and interest groups across the nation are pressuring Electoral College delegates to change their pledged votes for Donald Trump and deny him the 270 electoral votes needed to become president. One Texas delegate pledged to Trump has already indicated he will change his vote, becoming a so-called “Hamilton Elector,” named after founding father Alexander Hamilton. “In some ways it’s a conversation across the centuries and what he (Hamilton) had in mind,” says Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst partner David Coale in an interview with Fox4 News. “The constitution is set up to have that one additional place in the process to have their voices heard.” At least 37 Republican electors would need to change their vote to throw the election into the House of Representatives.
