Mr. Volney concentrates his practice on representing clients in all types of business disputes and complex multi-party lawsuits.
Since starting with Lynn Tillotson Pinker & Cox, LLP in 2002, Mr. Volney has served as lead counsel or as second chair in cases pending in Texas state courts, in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western District of Texas, and in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, as well as in arbitration proceedings before JAMS and the American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Volney has also handled appeals before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Corpus Christi Courts of Appeals.
Published opinions include: AssistMed, Inc. v. Conceptual Health Solutions, Inc., 2006 WL 1489422 (N.D. Tex. May 11, 2006) (Fitzwater, J.), Gunnerman v. Basic Capital Management, Inc., 2006 WL 411805 (Tex. App. – Dallas 2006, no pet.); and Canales Martinez v. Dow Chemical Co., 219 F.Supp.2d 719, (E.D.La. Jul 16, 2002).
Before he started with Lynn Tillotson Pinker & Cox, LLP, Mr. Volney was employed at the Law Offices of Fred Misko, Jr. P.C. While with Mr. Misko’s firm, Mr. Volney pursued class actions against the insurance industry, toxic tort claims on behalf of approximately 13,000 banana workers in Philippines, Costa Rica, and Ivory Coast, as well as personal injury matters.
Mr. Volney received his law degree from Duke University School of Law in 1997, and his B.A. (Plan II) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994.
Mr. Volney is a member of the State Bar of Texas, and he is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
