Few associates have spent as much time in a courtroom as Elizabeth McElroy has—she practically grew up in one. The daughter of a long-practicing Louisiana trial lawyer, Liz spent many childhood days watching her father in trial. Since then, Liz has devoted her education, training, and time to acquiring the knowledge and skills that allow her to succeed both in and out of the courtroom, achieving victories for her clients like those she watched her father obtain years ago.
Since joining LTPC, Liz has had multiple trial victories in both state and federal court, including a record-setting multimillion dollar Internet defamation verdict. She represented large corporations, small businesses, and individuals as both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of legal disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, and intentional tort cases. Liz excels at wrangling complicated factual and legal cases and distilling them down to clear, concise messages that are easy to understand and communicate to juries and judges alike.
Before joining LTPC, Liz clerked for the Honorable Eugene E. Siler, Jr. of the Untied States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. During her clerkship, Liz worked on appeals for the First, Third, Sixth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits. Liz’s work familiarized her with a wide range of legal issues, including complex civil disputes, bankruptcy actions, criminal matters, and constitutional law. Liz has also interned with the Honorable Richard T. Haik, Jr., the Chief Judge of the Western District of Louisiana.
Liz earned her J.D. from William and Mary School of Law. Upon graduation, she was admitted to the Order of the Barristers and honored for her outstanding trial advocacy skills by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. During law school, Liz was a member of both the William and Mary Moot Court Board and the National Trial Team, for which she won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Gourley Mock Trial Competition.
Liz earned her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Syracuse University. Liz was a member of the Syracuse University Mock Trial Team, for which she competed in the national competition four years in a row. While in college, Liz worked as a consultant for various non-profit agencies and city governments, helping them to create programs and laws to better suit their participants and citizens’ needs. Liz has also studied at the City University of Hong Kong.
Liz is licensed to practice law in Texas and Virginia. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
